It isn't often that we have found a new activity that the whole family can take part in and really enjoy while we have been travelling around New Zealand.  So far we totally rate the Luge in Rotorua as one.  But recently we came across another activity that the entire family got a kick out of.

Trampolining.

No we aren't talking about the old Kiwi backyard trampoline.  We mean International Standard Trampolines experienced at Icon Trampoline, Mangere, Auckland.

Skeptical at first when our current hosts mentioned that we could go along and join them in a training session last week, we trundeled along anyways, willing to give it a try.  Within minutes of arriving it became obvious that this was going to be one fun evening.  There were three large trampolines, saftey mats galore and further bounce mats and tramps for the kids to zoom around on while I clamboured onto the tramp.  After a few initial bounces to ensure the pelvic floor muscles were in check (you were all thinking it now ladies - admit!)  I was then taken through my paces by the lovely Alexa Kennedy (a top class champion of this sport!).  What a fabulous, fun teacher she was - she had me bouncing all over the show within no time and boy it was fun!

I would never have thought I could have enjoyed it so much.  Perhaps it was the re-igniting of the child in me that used to know how to conduct her body in all directions while flying through the air, or perhaps the sense of weightlessness, or the sheer joy of flinging oneself wildly into the air in reckless abandonment and being rewarded with a solid rebound, who knows, perhaps the combination of all three!  Whatever it was, it had us all rushing back for another round a week later, this time dragging Hamish along for the ride too.

Having found my back was being a little dodgy I jumped (not literally) on the end of the camera instead, while Hamish had some coaching from Alexa.  And yup, you guessed it, he loved it.....sorry to the coaches for the late night home....I tried to get them to leave earlier!!!

The boys were just happy to have open ended space to bounce, leap and flip (they were a little more advanced than me on this one) and were thrilled to receive a few helpful tips from the coaches on how to better their style.

A big shout out to these guys for letting us join in for the two weeks.  We highly recommend you check it out.  It's fun, amazingly good exercise and it is a cool activity/club that you can do as a whole family as they have kids classes as well as adult classes.  Thanks goes to Alexa and Dale for giving Usinabus this experience!

P.S Our shout out to these guys comes with no strings attached.  We had a cool time and wanted to share it with you, our readers, and as a thank you to these guys for letting us join in.
