When we crossed over from the South Island in February 2014 we had no idea what lay ahead of us.

Now June 2015 , a year a bit later we are about to make the crossing back to the South Island madly endeavouring to survive winter in the South in all her glory of below zero temperatures.

We hold no illusions - we lived there once.  We are quite sure we don't have our hardy Southern blood anymore given the temperate climate of the north.  But the adventure continues.  We are researching 'winterising' the bus which consists of lagging water pipes, and coming up with solutions to exposed windows.

First destination will be Motueka, before meandering our way back down to South Canterbury for some catch up time with grandparents and friends.  From there depending on the status of our survival skills we may hightail it back north, or, if we find we have aclimatised it may be time to explore some more southern landscapes once again and even find some snow.

We feel immensely enriched having explored from East Cape to Cape Reinga to Taranaki.  We have met the most incredible people, had the privilege of staying with over 20 families and sharing in their day to day lives. We have loved every moment of getting to know these people and treasure now being able to call them friends.  Our hearts are full, our memories strong and our cups of gratitude brimming over for all that the North has given us.  We know it is only a matter of time before we will be back.  There is much left to explore, re-visit, and re-aquaintance with and we so look forward to that time.

The North has provided us with incredible sunsets, phenomenal bush, rich black sands and rain like we have never seen.  Lush, abundant and warm will be our lasting impressions.
