Us‐in‐a‐bus

It started with a bus

We are the New Zealand Fraser family; mum dad & 4 boys. Being decidedly unsatisfied with suburban living we set about to write our own script; the result has us exploring Aotearoa/New Zealand in a bus since Oct 2013.

Angela Fraser

Angela is the catalyst and driver of usinabus.  Literally.  This passionate facilitator, adventurer and writer drives her family of four boys and hubby Hamish throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand in 11.2m of housebus in pursuit of living her dream of life on the road and embracing all that it entails, blogging as she goes.

She is an Occupational Therapist and a nationwide travelling Facilitator for Celebration Day for Girls. An affirming, grounded and connected workshop for girls aged 10-12yrs and their mothers, to celebrate the transition into puberty. If you would like to discuss having a workshop run in your area contact Angela via email.

Being someone who enjoys the incredible beauty of her homeland, she shares snippets of her story as she goes and welcomes others 'on board the bus' to share the ride and become inspired to pursue their own travel and lifestyle dreams.

Originally from Timaru, New Zealand, in 2013, she threw out the script of house, mortgage & debt and is now carving out a new narrative which she describes as, "breaking free and loving it".

She loves nothing more than being outdoors on hot days with her boys, walking on a beach, reading a book, and being in the company of good friends, fine coffee and much laughter.

Hamish Fraser

Hamish is the Kiwi Dad, coffee maker. tech-support, drone pilot. software developer. and occasional bus engineer behind usinabus.

As co-author of the blog his satarical viewpoint adds the comedic voice to the alternative lifestyle he now finds himself leading.

He is fascinated by how groups of people organise themselves, loves meeting people and is an Ex-councillor (District Services Committee chairman) for the Timaru District Council.

He fled town in a bus on his birthday in 2013 because "she was going and taking everything".

He is the Managing Director of a software business which is now his chief pursuit on the road as he networks and introduces key people to what Verb can offer.

You can reach Hamish on: hamish @ verb.co.nz

The boys

10, 8, 7 and 4yrs. Very well mannered, tidy, quiet, sensible, co-operative, imaginative, noisy, crazy, messy, loud and argumentative.

These guys love; playing with friends old and new, board games, Airfix models, computer games, plastercine, water, "sweet stuff" and of course LEGO & Minecraft.

Always up for a fine debate of children's rights and parental overreach of authority, they will gladly extort the merits of living in a large house, over tiny living, with much bemusement.
