We now live in a Plaxton Bus.  Ange (my better half) and Hamish (myself) intend to blog about this experience as we tour NZ with our four lads.

We moved into the bus on the 13th of October 2013. This was also the first day I was no longer elected in public service as a councillor for the Timaru District Council. I don't really want you to draw the conclusion that this bus experiment is some over-the-top reaction against my three year exposure to the methods of civil society; as one could so easily assume. It's true I failed to convince the council that a blog was a legitimate form of communication (and no I wasn't going to switch to a fax number), however my favourite topic of institutionalism ended up being provided with much raw and fun material and for that I am forever grateful.

Much more importantly however; this experiment is a 12 year old dream of Ange's and mine and it's pretty darn exciting to be finally on our way. Remarkably it also happened that the 13th was my birthday and so that was pretty sweet way to celebrate (if by celebrate I mean spend all day packing and building a fence).

We got off to a good start, arrived in Oamaru and then I was promptly left holding the baby (literally) with an alarmed car, no car keys, at a dump station (incidentally the worst part of living in a bus) watching my wife drive off in the Plaxton to the beach without a single backwards glance. Never heard any of my phone calls...
Big shoutout to the owner of the Oamaru Diner who leant me his truck and $20 for gas so I could fetch my keys, deliver the baby and make the round trip all the way back to pick up the car.

I hope you enjoy this unfolding experiment that is living outside of suburbia, gasping for an internet connection while running a software company on the road. I left a UFB connection both at home, and at the office and find myself now sitting in my car at the University of Otago sucking up some free wifi courtesy of the Distiller at the Innovation Centre.

So on that note, if you have around 11.2m of free driveway/firm level ground, some decent wifi and want us to stay for a few bits (pun) - then let us know. We need for nothing but wifi.
